A desert that hides a sea of life.

In Qatar, you just have to know where to look.

Over one year, Beyond the Dunes follows the creatures of Qatar's desert, coast, and Gulf: more than 300 whale sharks at the surface, flamingos dancing through the night, a sand cat facing down a cobra, and a herd of 300+ dugongs in clear water.

Premiering March 2027. Streaming on Amazon Prime Video

Synopsis: 3.24.25 narration review script (DRAFT); dugong count 300+ per NJI. Credits removed pending agreement on who is listed; a separate credits page is planned. Image: Marketing Proposal v6b, slide 3.

Where they live.

Locations are indicative.
Animal bios fact-checked Oct 2026 against IUCN, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar University and published studies; confirm with Red Rock and the ministry's Wildlife Development Department. Arabic for the new bios needs a translator's review. Confirm which fox species appears in the film. Outline: Natural Earth 1:10m. Pins are approximate and need Red Rock confirmation. Cormorant colony deliberately vague. Whale sharks: Al Shaheen area, about 85 km offshore.

Look closer. Most of them only come out at night.

Move the thermal lens across the dunes and the shore. When it finds body heat, name the animal to meet it.

A moonlit panorama where a long dune ridge runs down to the sea
Panorama made from one aerial shot in the film, where a dune ridge meets the sea, extended at both edges with generative fill and graded to moonlight. The moon is from the film. The animals appear only in the thermal view, as heat signatures traced from film footage. Replace with true thermal footage from Red Rock when cleared.

Seen for the first time.

A whale shark ultrasound

Scientists scanned shark after shark until one showed pups inside, at different stages of growth.

300+ dugongs, together underwater

The first underwater footage of this herd, and of a calf nursing from its mother.

The mudflat circles

For generations no one knew what carved the rings. A thermal camera caught flamingos dancing at night.

A standoff in the dark

Thermal cameras follow a sand cat and an Arabian fox over the same snake. The cat holds her ground.

All "first" claims from the 3.24.25 script; confirm with Red Rock and the research teams before launch.

The story keeps going after the credits.
